The extension of his contract is precisely in this context, but not only: Nicolò is a very important player for us, his technical qualities and his tactical intelligence are known to everyone and we are convinced that his return to the pitch will bring us added value will be of utmost importance. So Fagioli has to know, and he does, that he can continue to work here with the necessary composure and train with the team every day. And he also knows that we are counting on him and waiting for him,” explained Juventus technical director Cristiano Giuntoli.

According to reports, Fagioli’s signature also came with a salary increase. In total, the Italian international’s ban was actually twelve months, but he can shorten five of them with the help of other concessions. This includes therapy for his gambling addiction, which he has to undergo for six months. There is also a fine of 12,500 euros. The young professional is said to have gambled away more than a million euros on online platforms. He had cooperated with the investigators, otherwise he would have been threatened with a ban of several years.
