Juventus Turin suffered a late mood dampener in the emotionally charged last home game of club icon Giorgio Chiellini.
In the 2-2 (2-0) win against Lazio, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic equalized in the sixth minute of injury time and secured fifth place in the Europa League for the guests.
Previously, an own goal by Alex Sandro (51st) had brought the Romans back after Juve goals from Dusan Vlahovic (10th) and Alvaro Morata (36th).
But the game was all about Chiellini. The star defender was substituted in the 17th minute of the game in his 560th appearance for the Bianconeri and was loudly cheered on his lap of honour.
In October 2005 – 17 years ago – the European champions made their debut for Juve and then celebrated nine championships and five cup wins with the club. The 37-year-old could be drawn to the USA. Paulo Dybala was also dismissed with applause in the final quarter of an hour.
With the draw, Turin, who had already secured re-qualification for the Champions League, also missed the hoped-for reaction to the bitter defeat in the cup final against Inter Milan (2:4 aet), which had sealed a titleless season for Juve, who were used to success.
