Juventus files appeal against points deduction

After the 15-point deduction due to falsified financial reports, the Italian record champions Juventus Turin filed an appeal with the highest sports court of the Italian Olympic Committee CONI on Monday.

The club announced this after the publication of the verdict on Monday. From the club’s point of view, this is not conclusive on all points, they want to take action against it, it said.

The club hope that CONI will refer the case back to the FIGC courts for reconsideration and the point deduction will then be overturned. Juve was fined because the judges considered it proven that the club had embellished the club’s balance sheets by using fictitious market values of its players. The record champion denies this.

Juventus are also threatened with problems from UEFA: the European Football Union is currently also examining the Italians’ finances. The suspicion is that the club paid some of its professionals black in the corona pandemic and thus did not properly book millions of euros more. Because of the point deduction, the team slipped down to 13th place in the table.
