Juve, with the possible plea deal -2: no Europa League but ok in the Conference

Juventus has chosen the path of plea bargaining for the double salary maneuver. The negotiation with the head of the federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè was long, but in the end a team was reached that seems to satisfy everyone. There are two hypotheses: the first is that of a maximum fine (which has taken shape in the last few hours), the second is that of a fine accompanied by a small penalty of points which is added to the 10 established by the Federal Court of Appeal.

In this sense, it is reasonable to think that 2-3 points will be deducted, given that in both cases the scenarios would not change. Let’s see why. Juventus are now seventh with 59 points; Roma sixth with 60; Turin and Fiorentina eighth with 53. With two penalty points, the bianconeri could catch up with Mourinho’s team (in case of victory for the Lady and defeat of the Giallorossi in the last round) which is, however, ahead in direct matches; with three they could in turn be joined by grenade and viola who are both behind in direct confrontations. In practice, with 2 or 3 penalty points Juve would not be able to go to the Europa League, but would still qualify for the Conference.

And this is certainly an aspect on which the Juventus lawyers have fought. Qualification in Europe is essential not so much to be able to play in a cup, as for the shadow of an exclusion by UEFA. In fact, according to the regulation, if the highest European body decides to punish you, you are forced to serve the penalty (in this case, exclusion) at the first qualification for a European competition. In this case Juve could have to give up the Conference League, but could start the next championship on an equal footing with the others and then play for the cup for which they will qualify at the end of the season. After all, it is a plea bargain, which by nature must bring some advantage to everyone.
