Juve, with Nicolussi the transfer strategies change: from the playmaker to the attacking midfielder

The midfielder took the opportunity to replace Locatelli: instead of a playmaker, the Bianconeri could now look for an offensive joker who can also act as a midfielder

Allegri and Juve are betting on Nicolussi Caviglia, and the fact that he was started against Inter is proof. Last summer the player put his foot down: after his youth career with Juventus, his debut in the first team and a few years wandering around on loan until the bad injury that even jeopardized his career, the midfielder chose to stay in Turin to realize the dream of playing for Juventus, with the risk of finding little space. Allegri likes it, and it’s a strong signal also in view of the decisions to be made in the January transfer window.

REASONINGS

After the suspensions of Fagioli and Pogba at Juventus, a move into midfield would be useful for numerical needs, but if Nicolussi Caviglia manages to give guarantees as deputy Locatelli – like McKennie as midfielder – slightly different assessments could be made: perhaps more in favor of a functional reinforcement to lengthen the squad and not a very first line which would also risk upsetting the balance achieved by the team in the first part of the season. A positive opinion on Nicolussi Caviglia could therefore put the discussions on Phillips’ loan from Manchester City on hold and raise the prices on different opportunities in other areas of the pitch: the hypothesis of an offensive wildcard, who can also be used by midfielder when necessary, remains the most accredited.

BELONGING

As for Nicolussi Caviglia, however, if so far the hypothesis of his transfer in January to find more space elsewhere has continued to arise, now the assessments could change radically. Hans grew up in Juventus Turin since he was a child: he was often the captain of his teams, he knows the internal dynamics of the club and knows well how to work every day at the sports center. He certainly contributed to raising the sense of belonging in the group and proved to be a good resource despite not playing minutes. With the start of his journey in the Italian Cup he will have the opportunity to exploit more space in the rotations: in short, the transfer is now decidedly less likely. While Allegri enjoys yet another young man empowered to live the new cycle as a protagonist.
