Juve, what a deal Pogba’s disqualification is: the saving is a total of 33 million

The duration of the stop (4 years) exceeds that of the contract and therefore the company is in a position to request termination of the agreement

Pogba’s disqualification for Juve now becomes a simple economic question, linked to inevitable considerations and some opportunities. In the summer of 2022 the Frenchman had become the highest paid player in the squad: he had arrived on a free transfer, signing a 4-year salary worth 8 million net plus 2 in bonuses. By arriving from abroad, the club was able to take advantage of the benefits of the Growth Decree, keeping the company cost of its contract at around 12 million gross. Subsequently, the club had not appreciated the player’s management of the injury (in his first months with Juventus) precisely because the decision not to undergo immediate surgery on the lateral meniscus (going against the opinion of the Juventus doctors) had exposed the club to of non-refundable expenses for a longer period.

HOW MUCH YOU SAVE

The disqualification for doping, however, triggered more precautionary procedures for the company: while awaiting the definitive disqualification, in fact, the footballer was placed on a minimum salary regime, at around 2 thousand euros per month. Now he can save a nice sum. Faced with the 4-year ban, which exceeds the period in which Juve has Pogba under contract, the club is in a position to request the termination of the agreement. The savings are around 33 million in total, calculating from when the midfielder was placed on minimum salary and the cancellation of the next two sports seasons: 2024-25 and 2025-26.

ECONOMIC DAMAGES

For now, nothing has filtered out from Continassa regarding the desire to take revenge on the player for the damage to his image suffered, but it is likely that this issue will be addressed later. Certainly, up until now, in addition to not having been able to make use of its most representative player, Juve has also had to make several sacrifices on a commercial level: Pogba holds the number 10 shirt, historically the best-selling but has long since been surpassed in searches – also due to the long stop period – from Chiesa’s 7 and Vlahovic’s 9.
