The shock that hit Juve could extend to technical management: the current sporting director could become general manager, and to replace him…
The first quake was strong, but it may not be the only one. The corporate tsunami that hit Juventus last November 28 led to the resignation of the president Andrea Agnelli and of the entire board, from deputy Pavel Nedved to ceo. Maurice Arrivabene. The earthquake, at least for the moment, hasn’t touched the sporting director Federico Cherubini. And neither is coach Massimiliano Allegri, invested by John Elkann with the role of leader and reference in the sports area. It will certainly be like this until June. The Cherubini-Allegri couple will complete the season and the objectives remain the same as before November 28th: attempt a comeback against Napoli in the league and try to go all the way in the Europa League and Coppa Italia. But already in the spring at Continassa they will begin to draw conclusions. A second shock is not yet taken for granted, but it is much more than possible and in the event it will concern the role of the sporting director
Reshuffle
—
The choice will be made between the end of January-March and it does not necessarily lead to the farewell of Federico Cherubini, who in the event of a reshuffle – and not a revolution – could leave the director’s chair to take a seat in the director’s chair, with a new managing director in place of the outgoing Arrivabene. For the latter place, the most fascinating option remains that of the return to black and white of Beppe Marotta, now at Inter. But a new DS would come anyway. The internal solution is represented by Giovanni Manna, currently at the helm of Juve U23, in the past probed by Marotta’s Inter itself.
Pole joints

The shock, however, could also be much stronger and lead to a bigger change. In that case, watch out for Cristiano Giuntoli, the market man of Napoli’s great intuitions (Kim and Kvaratskhelia are just two examples), already in Juventus’ thoughts in the past. Any engagement of Giuntoli, who would be entrusted with the sports area, would in any case be accompanied by a general manager/CEO.
The alternative
—
If not Marotta himself, it could be his dolphin par excellence to fill the role of CEO of the future Juventus: that is Giovanni Carnevali. The Sassuolo plenipotentiary could act in tandem with Giuntoli, considered an eclectic profile, but also move to Turin together with Giovanni Rossi, his current sporting director. Rossi would start from two advantages: he knows Juventus, where he worked at the beginning of the Agnelli-Marotta-Paratici cycle as head of the youth sector, and he has a solid relationship of mutual esteem with Massimiliano Allegri.

The feeling is that the actual consultations will begin in 2023. Probably after the preparation of the new board of directors, which will take place on January 18th. The choice of management will only be the first in order of time. First and most importantly, because then it will be up to the managing director/general manager and especially the sporting director to decide whether to go ahead with Massimiliano Allegri or move on. The coach from Livorno has a contract until 2025 and it’s not a detail. Everything (or almost) on the bench will depend on the results and also on any opportunities. There are few technicians from Juventus: one is Allegri and another could be Antonio Conte, fundamental at the beginning of the black and white cycle and not yet certain of extending with Tottenham. Another Juve coach, and not just for his great past, would be Zinedine Zidane, the man of the three Champions League with Real Madrid. Zizou is waiting for France. But if Deschamps were to remain coach until 2024, ZZ’s plans could change. All the more so if the Juventus revolution brought Del Piero back into the club as well.
