Juve-Lecce, Konan and that 2004 double that went down in history

Lecce have won only once away to the Bianconeri. It happened 19 years ago, thanks to a superhero afternoon by an Ivorian discovered, coincidentally, by Corvino

First name: Axel Cédric Konan. Ivorian, from Abidjan. After that feat, however, he became to everyone: Konan the Barbarian. Which is – with C instead of K – in order: 1) A literary character invented by an English writer in the 1930s, 2) The protagonist of a film with Arnold Schwarzenegger dated 1982 which gave the Austrian bodybuilder world famous and 3) A cartoon much appreciated by kids who grew up in the first half of the 90s. To put it simply: a man with superhuman strength. Konan the Barbarian, therefore, was the absolute protagonist of a day that still gives Lecce fans a lump in their throat with emotion. It was April 25, 2004, the 31st day of the championship. Sensational at the Delle Alpi in Turin, Lecce beat Juventus 4-3. To this day, that remains Lecce’s only historic victory away to Juventus. And it’s a story that needs to be told.
