Allegri’s team, by virtue of the rules established by UEFA, will take part in the next Club World Cup scheduled in the United States in the summer of 2025, in the new 32-team format
Napoli exits the Champions League, Juventus celebrates. This is not a simple sporting rivalry but the consequences brought with it by the result achieved this evening in Spain. The elimination of Francesco Calzona’s team from the cup, in fact, automatically certifies Juventus’ participation in the next Club World Cup scheduled for the United States in the summer of 2025 in the new 32-team format. Before this evening’s match, the Azzurri were 5 points behind Juve in the ranking specifically established by FIFA (42 and 47 respectively). It would have been enough to match the Bianconeri, because in the event of a similar score, the club with the best Champions League run in the last four years would have been favoured. To do so, however, it would have been necessary to at least pass the round and win a quarter-final match, where the Bianconeri had never reached in the period considered. All of this, in fact, will not happen: the two representatives of Italy in the Club World Cup will be Inter – already certain of qualification for the top position in the ranking – and Juventus. In fact, each federation will only be able to count on two teams.

If the winner of this edition falls among the clubs already mentioned, Salzburg will guarantee their presence. The other definitely qualified ones from the remaining confederations at the moment are Palmeiras, Fluminense, Flamengo, Al Ahly, Wydad, Al Hilal, Urawa Red Diamonds, Monterrey, Seattle Sounders, Club Leon and Auckland City.
