A 35-year-old woman from Assen is suspected of trying to blackmail her boss with nude photos as a dental assistant. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), she did this together with her then partner (37). Both wanted a more favorable severance payment for the woman. The Public Prosecution Service demands community service of up to eighty hours.
The woman worked for the dentist in Assen for seven years. In August 2017, the woman wanted to stop because of too much work pressure, which she said she experienced within the practice. She was now heavily pregnant with her then boyfriend and co-defendant in this case. Both tried to convince the dentist to sign an agreement that would allow the woman to receive a higher benefit.
The woman owed her boss €3,000. By signing that form, he would also waive it. The dentist refused. Immediately afterwards, he received messages on his phone with threats that nude photos had been taken and would be posted online if the man did not sign. The physician was sent a photo and a video of him naked in bed with a patient from his practice.
The images were hung on the door of his practices in Assen and Dedemsvaart the next day. It was written: “This best man asks for sex in exchange for treatment in his practice. I have more images of this old pervert. He has more to record. The images will be online soon”.
All employees of the company received the letter at home. The dentist then filed a report of defamation and threats.
The ex-wife of the dentist was also confronted with the nude images by the 37-year-old suspect. The woman did not want them to go online, because she was afraid that her children would be held accountable for this. The former dental assistant in turn denied knowing anything about the nude images and extortion, she told the police.
However, the police found the blackmail photos on the woman’s phone. They were almost certainly recorded with that device. The woman acknowledged that she knew the 28-year-old woman who was in bed with the dentist. Her telephone records showed that she sometimes babysat the daughter in her twenties. The dentist’s short-lived mistress was also before the court in Assen on Tuesday.
The twenty-something knew nothing about the secret recordings, she told the police. Until she was confronted with images of herself, on which she put the phone ready to film her and the dentist. However, the film was not found on her phone. The OM suspects that the telephone of the 35-year-old co-suspect was used for filming. This should show that the three worked according to plan. “Low to the ground,” said the OM.
In addition to the eighty hours of community service, the 28-year-old also demanded a prison sentence of 180 days, of which 162 days were suspended. The woman was also accused of defrauding three other men. She was held in custody for eighteen days. Given the passage of time, the OM did not want to send her back to the cell.
