Justice is demanding a prison sentence of twelve months against two Georgian men who, according to the Public Prosecution Service, committed three burglaries in Drenthe between October and November 2019.
As part of a German investigation, the police in the Netherlands placed a tracking system under the car of the two suspects. At the time, the men were staying in a chalet in Lutter, Germany. The system linked three home burglaries in Buinen, Darp and Ruinerwold to these suspects.
Chalet full of stolen stuff
CCTV footage showed that the suspects’ car, containing two people, was nearby during the burglaries. In the chalet, the agents found goods that came from a burglary. “Bought from a ‘negro'”, the men told the police at the time.
Left with the northern sun
The prosecutor did not believe this. Phone records showed that devices stolen from the homes had been searched for. The prosecution found that this was mobile banditry (internationally organized crime). The men were released after 173 days and have since disappeared. They did not appear in court.
The judge will rule in two weeks.
