Just like in the film: nostalgic steam train in Den Bosch

Train passengers in Den Bosch were able to go back in time on Saturday morning. In honor of the five-year anniversary of Het Stoomgenootschap, a steam train with two locomotives drove from the central station to South Limburg.

It’s like an old movie: a compartment with plush couches, the smell of steam and people dressed up in Victorian style. At 9.15 am the steam train arrived on track 6A of Den Bosch station and that caused a lot of enthusiasm among the fans on the platform. “The steam train is great fun, it has a bit of romance,” says one of the travelers on the platform. “It’s already the fourth time I’ve come along. I brought good food and wine. How good can you have it, huh?

The steam train consists of two large locomotives, one from 1925 and a German one from 1960. The wheels have a diameter of two meters. The train left at 7 a.m. from Rotterdam, via Gouda and Utrecht to Den Bosch. After the stop in Den Bosch, the steam train continued to South Limburg at 9:40 am. The ride with this train is organized by Het Stoomgenootschap from Den Bosch. This society has existed for five years and that was celebrated with this special train ride.
