Home-grown cinema musicals are scarce, especially since the flop De seventh heaven from 2016 (who wants to hear Halina Reijn bumbling as a singer; the film is on Videoland). Just like in the film, it makes an especially safe attempt to be a polder version of La la land. With well-known songs that no one really hates and a couple – Noortje Herlaar and Benja Bruijning – with just enough chemistry.
