Just Fontaine is dead – scored 13 goals in the World Cup

The French futsal legend passed away at the age of 89.

A football legend Just Fontaine is dead. The Frenchman’s family confirmed the sad news to the news agency AFP. Fontaine was 89 years old when he died.

Fontaine’s name has entered the history books thanks to the 1958 World Cup. The Frenchman hit as many as 13 hits in six matches. The number is still the record for a single WC tournament.

Born in Morocco, Fontaine represented Casablanca, Nice and Reims at club level. He ended his playing career in 1962. In total, he played 1 match for the French national team, in which he scored 30 goals.

After his playing career, Fontaine worked as a coach and football ambassador, among other things.
