The campaign bus of the political party Belang van Nederland (BvNL) was accidentally taken off the road in Amstelveen yesterday afternoon. The police saw in their system that the bus was driving around uninsured, but that would not be correct. According to the party, the bus has been insured since March 1, but insurer Centraal Beheer had not yet registered it.
“Pretty irritating that you are then stopped”, spokesperson Richard de Mos, who was not there himself, responds to NH Nieuws. The police confirms to NH Nieuws that yesterday ‘around 4.15 pm on the Amsterdamseweg in Amstelveen a touring car was checked and put aside’.
Interest of the Netherlands was yesterday led by founder Wybren van Haga present at the Election Market in Amstelveen. Like nine other parties, the party tried to convince Amstelveners to vote for one of their candidates a week before the municipal elections.

The campaign bus departed from Rembrandtweg around 4 p.m., after which the police determined, based on the license plate, that the vehicle was driving around uninsured. The driver then received a stop sign and was ordered to follow the police to the site for seized vehicles on Johan Huizingalaan in Amsterdam.
“From there we called the insurer, in the end it turned out that they had not yet implemented it,” says party employee Agnes Vaczi. In the end, the party bus stood in front of the police station for about an hour and a half.
Inconvenient in campaign time
“Really a drama”, says Vaczi about the misunderstanding, which is especially inconvenient during campaign time. “We are preparing well, but because of this you are an hour and a half late for your next appointment,” she complains about the slow action of the insurer. “But Centraal Beheer has made a lot of excuses.”
Centraal Beheer cannot comment on the matter ‘for privacy reasons’, spokesperson Marloes Oldenhof told NH Nieuws. “We don’t go into individual cases.”
Interest of the Netherlands is participating in the upcoming municipal elections in a total of 23 Dutch municipalities. These include 7 Noord-Holland municipalities: Amstelveen, Haarlemmermeer, Haarlem, Amsterdam, Edam-Volendam, Hilversum and Zaanstad. From those municipalities the party will visit several more in the run-up to the electionsand then takes the campaign bus along.
