The father of a family from Vantaa was very surprised when the notifications on his phone said that someone was spending considerable sums on video games with his credit card.

– Something strange happened on Sunday, writes a person from Vantaa Jussi Ojala in Threads.
Jussi has set his bank application to notify of new charges. The family’s Sunday afternoon took a surprising turn when Jussi’s phone started receiving notifications about one-time debits of several tens of euros.
The purchases were made from the Playstation Store, and in addition to Alan Wake and Call of Duty, they included a couple of other games. The total amount of purchases made with the credit card was almost 300 euros.
– For a fraction of a second, I thought that the real user of the ID, i.e. my 10-year-old son, was fooling around. It quickly became clear that it was about something else, the father of the family writes.
At the same moment, Jussi received a message from his bank that his credit card had been closed as a result of suspicious activity.
The account was hijacked
At this point it was clear that someone had gained unauthorized access to his Playstation account. There was still another nasty surprise left.
– I immediately went to change the password, but Kaappari had then immediately changed the e-mail used in the password, so I could no longer access the account, he writes.
Good service
On Monday morning, Jussi called Playstation’s customer service. This time the surprise was positive.
– From there, there was absolutely excellent service in Finnish, he praises.
– Right away the account back, the money back and instructions on how to avoid something similar in the future. They say there’s no need to bother the bank.
Jussi tells Iltalehti that Playstation support told him to change the password to a stronger one. Customer service also recommended the introduction of two-step identification.
– Almost all of them had two-step identification in use, now it’s also in the PS ID, he writes.
