Jursica Mills resigns as party chairman of BIJ1 with immediate effect

Jursica Mills has immediately stopped as party chairman of BIJ1. That confirms the political party saturday after reporting from The Parool† BIJ1 says on Twitter that it was “overwhelmed” by Mills’ decision, but to respect her choice.

The Parool writes that Mills, who took office as chairman in the run-up to the parliamentary elections of 2021, lashed out at BIJ1 by email on Friday evening. She is said to have described the party as “full of toxicity, favoritism and contradictions”.

Also, according to Mills, BIJ1 members would “like to want justice” until just decisions do not fit their way and pursue a flat organization, “but never want to be responsible for their own behavior.” The outgoing chairman says that “as a black woman, he has never been approached and treated so disrespectfully, not with integrity or unjustified”, according to the Amsterdam newspaper, “all under the guise of criticism”.

Last year it also rumbled at BIJ1, when prominent former member Quincy Gario faced the party board (including Mills). Gario was expelled in July of that year after 16 complaints were received about him. The party leadership also called the behavior of Gario, who would get his way and treat others disrespectfully, then also “toxic”. The expulsion of Gario led to the division of the Hague branch of BIJ1.

The board of BIJ1 was not yet available for questions from NRC
