Due to a number of corona cases, Liverpool recently applied for a game to be postponed. The application was granted, but also rightly? The Klopp team is threatened with unpleasant aftermath.
Liverpool FC is threatened with trouble by the league association due to allegedly false test results and a possibly unnecessary postponement of the game. Because of numerous positive corona tests in the club, Liverpool’s semi-final first leg in the league cup against Arsenal was postponed last week – to the displeasure of the Londoners.
Corona outbreak did not materialize
Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp later reported, however, that almost all positive test results turned out to be false and that the isolated players were then tested negative. The initially feared corona outbreak at Liverpool FC did not occur.
Therefore, according to a report by the online magazine “The Athletic”, several football clubs have complained to the EFL cup host and demanded an investigation. It should be clarified when Liverpool found that the positive test results were wrong and whether the game against Arsenal could have taken place.
The EFL called the postponement of the game as the “only option” last week. If it turns out that this step was unnecessary, the Reds face a severe penalty, it is said.
