Jumbo-Visma has the most money left over from the first week of the Tour de France. Wout van Aert in particular provided the necessary income. There is also a boost for the Dutch team with the return of Merijn Zeeman.
The Belgian won two stages, wore the yellow jersey and is currently in possession of the green jersey. All in all, the performances yielded the team 82,140 euros, Tour organizer ASO reports.
That was more than twice as much as the first pursuer UAE Team Emirates. The team of yellow jersey wearer Tadej Pogacar earned 37,210 euros so far. Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, which already won two stages with the Belgian Yves Lampaert and the Dutchman Fabio Jakobsen, is third: 30,520 euros.
Team DSM has to make do with 3850 euros for the time being and only keeps the B&B Hotels and Astana teams behind. The Kazakh formation is desolately at the bottom of this financial ranking and has only collected 600 euros for the time being.
Sailor back with team
Merijn Zeeman left Amsterdam on Monday to join Jumbo-Visma. The sporting director had to let the first week of the Tour run due to a corona infection. This offered him the opportunity to follow the Tour and the performance of his team with an ‘overview’. He enjoyed: ,,We are in very good shape.”
On the way to Morzine, where the Tour is having a rest day today, he looked back on the first Tour week, in which Van Aert in particular made an impression. Jonas Vingegaard is the number 2 in the general classification. “Great, but our ambitions are also extremely high. Wout is in better shape than expected for the green jersey, but the yellow is difficult. Pogacar had a great first week, even when his team wasn’t there. And in the two mountain stages his team looked very strong again.”

The fall of Primoz Roglic was very sad
Zeeman will rejoin on Monday evening. ,,Wout is in much better shape for greenery than calculated in advance. The bottom line is that only Pogacar is still a competitor. After his two stage wins, it is becoming increasingly difficult within Jumbo-Visma to keep in mind that what he performs is not normal.”
,,The fall of Primoz Roglic was very sad, especially for himself. Pogacar has been great so far, but we are now entering a different area. Then we will see if he can also climb this on cols of an hour. We won’t attack like a headless chicken, but we won’t just drive to Paris and think it’s all right. Jonas really wants more.”
