Julien Dossena is the next guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier.
Dossena, who celebrates his tenth anniversary at Paco Rabanne this year, is the fifth designer to follow in Gaultier’s footsteps. The couture collection he designed will be presented in July, Jean Paul Gaultier announced on Monday.
With his Spring/Summer 2023 collection for Rabanne, the French designer, who before heading up Rabanne worked as a senior designer under Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga, paid tribute to the brand’s late founder, and will now devote himself to Gaultier’s vision.
In 2020, the designer Jean Paul Gaultier said goodbye to the world of haute couture. Since then, the French fashion house has collaborated with various creatives who honor the designer’s spirit and craftsmanship in their own couture creations under the Gaultier name. Dossena succeeds Chitose Abe, founder of Japanese label Sacai, Diesel and Y3 designer Glenn Martens, Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing and fashion designer Haider Ackermann.
With Dossena, the choice fell on a designer for the first time within the Puig Group, which includes both Gaultier and Paco Rabanne.
