Julian Nagelsmann is back on the coaching market after being released from FC Bayern. The 35-year-old is currently linked with both Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid. Record national player Lothar Matthäus has now commented on the hot speculation.
“Madrid is a top address and he is an incredibly talented coach,” said the TV expert in an interview with the “t-online” portal. At the same time, Matthäus asked: “But can that happen? What you have to realize in retrospect: Bayern Munich came too early for him.”
Nagelsmann could “apply this experience to his future stations”. “Whether it’s in the Premier League, the Spanish La Liga or somewhere else,” says Matthäus.
FC Bayern: Lothar Matthäus believes in Thomas Tuchel
After the separation from Nagelsmann, FC Bayern is now relying on Thomas Tuchel on the sidelines. The new Munich trainer is “ready to discuss, to communicate,” said Matthäus, referring to Tuchel’s character.
“But in the end he will go his own way, and that’s right and important,” said the 1990 world champion confidently: “Otherwise he loses the team – and makes himself unbelievable with the players. In the place of Kahn and Salihamidzic would I let Tuchel do his thing and forbid myself to talk to him about technical matters. That is solely the decision of the coach.”
He was “convinced that things will go well after Nagelsmann separated,” said Matthäus. “And what you also have to say: the coach had to blame himself for some of the things that caused unrest in the club. Manuel Neuer will not have been the saddest person when he heard about Nagelsmann’s dismissal,” commented the 62- Year-old the latest developments at FC Bayern.
