Julian Lennon: “Jew” (Review & Stream)

After Julian Lennon recently sang “Imagine” for the first time (at least publicly), he called his first album in eleven years “Jude” – he seems reconciled with his father and the past, and his songs sound like that too: they are soft pop songs with gentle piano and guitar, sometimes the sound of the sea, sometimes slightly disturbing synths.

The most beautiful moments are of course those in which Julian’s voice is so reminiscent of John and he also comes up with touching songs – “Not One Night” or “Breathe”, even the somewhat cheesy “Love Never Dies”. At the end he invites the great Paul Buchanan to the epic “Gaia”, but the French speaking passages by Elissa Lauper would not have been necessary.
