Julian Lennon: Alleged argument with Sean Lennon was “such nonsense”

“We have never argued,” says Julian Lennon about his relationship with half-brother Sean.

Julian Lennon spoke in an interview about his relationship with his half-brother Sean Lennon, who is twelve years his junior, and immediately dispelled rumors that Beatle John Lennon’s two sons were fighting with each other.

While Julian Lennon was born from his first marriage to Cynthia Lennon, Sean Lennon was born from his second marriage to Yoko Ono. In an interview with “Esquire”, Julian Lennon talked about the very good relationship between the two and the fact that they had never really gotten into each other’s hair.

The half-brothers support each other

When asked about his half-brother, Julian Lennon stated clearly: “We have never argued in our lives. That’s such nonsense.” Time and again they would be accused of feuding, but that wouldn’t be true.

In fact, the siblings would support each other wherever they can. In an interview with “Esquire”, for example, the musician reported on a special moment before the premiere of the Beatles documentary “Get Back” in November 2021. Sean Lennon didn’t feel like going to the premiere – in fact, he felt a lot of pressure. Specifically, Julian Lennon said: “But he said he felt obligated to go, and because I love him so much, I said, ‘Listen, I’m coming with you. We will face the demons together.’”

They are a “big, crazy family”

Julian Lennon also stated that he would like to see public recognition of his good relationship with his half-brother. After the “Get Back” premiere, he had “a lot of happy pictures of us [im Internet] shared spaces where we do nothing but smile, laugh and act like idiots. That was important for me and for peace and for the family.”

If there was ever any friction in the family, he revealed, it was a long time ago. Because everyone would get older, lose people around them and thereby learn “what is the most valuable thing in life” – by which he meant family. During the conversation, he described his relationship with the remaining Beatles members, their children and Yoko Ono as a “big, old, crazy family”.
