Ex-national player
Now it’s official: Julian Draxler is finally leaving PSG after six and a half years. The 29-year-old offensive player is moving to Al-Ahli SC in the Qatar Stars League immediately before the transfer deadline. The ex-national player (58 games) receives a contract for two seasons.
According to French media reports, the transfer fee for Draxler is 9 million euros. The transfer income in his career rises to just over 90 million euros – only four German footballers exceed this mark. On Al-Ahli’s side, the attacker becomes the most expensive and, with a market value of 6 million euros, also the most valuable newcomer in history.

“Julian has an offer from the Middle East (ed.), which is very big. But he also has a family issue to deal with at the moment. “So I don’t know whether he’ll do it now,” consultant Roger Wittmann explained at the end of August, with a view to Draxler’s open future. “If a player can go there today, he should do it. I would recommend it to every player. It’s something completely different than China or Russia.”
Draxler to Qatar: PSG revenues break the 200 million mark
The 2014 world champion had previously been linked to the English club Crystal Palace. Last season, Draxler scored two goals in 18 games during his loan to Benfica, which was unsuccessful due to injuries. Draxler is following his ex-PSG colleague Marco Verratti (30), who signed with Al-Arabi SC on Wednesday, to Qatar, which will increase PSG’s income this summer to 203 million euros – 167 million euros of which come from Saudi Arabia or Qatar (for all transfers in 2023/24).
