After her debut, “Don’t Let The Kids Win”, and the follow-up, “Crushing”, the singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin now delivers 40 minutes of listening with “Pre Pleasure”, which is soft and never shallow, well thought out and at the same time so uncomplicated that you only notice afterwards how powerful the crisis is in them. The master of the last movements sings about the love and the fear of loss that comes with it, reflects on communication in friendships and family.
“Less Of A Stranger” is a must for anyone with a mother theme, not only “I Was Neon” is reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers, and possibly “Please stop smoking, I want your life to last a long time/ If you don’t stop smoking, I’ll have to start shortening mine” from “Be Careful With Yourself” the strongest declaration of love of the year.
