Borussia Dortmund are once again paying dearly for the misconduct of their own fans. The sports court of the German Football Association imposed a fine of 88,000 euros on BVB.
The verdict punished the incidents at the Bundesliga games at FC Schalke 04 on March 11 and against Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 13. Before and during these games, BVB supporters burned various pyrotechnic objects.
In the run-up to the Schalke game, a Bengali torch even hit a journalist standing on the sidelines, causing his jacket and media jersey to catch fire. Only thanks to the quick intervention of the security service, who immediately put out the fire, there was no injury.
The Dortmund team can use up to 29,300 euros of the total for security or violence prevention measures, the DFB said. This must be proven to the association by December 31 of this year.
