Judoka Tornike Tsjakadoea (-60 kg.) from Amstelveen took bronze at the grand slam tournament in Astana. In the battle for bronze he competed against the Russian Gamzat Zairbekov who was disqualified.
Zairbekov was disqualified for landing on his head as he spun to escape a score from Chakadua. For the North Holland judoka it was the fourth time that he took bronze at a grand slam tournament.
At the beginning of May, Tsjakadoea was unable to participate in the World Cup due to a hamstring injury. He has recovered well from that injury.
