Poor vision in top sport: world opened up after laser treatment
Noël van ‘t End has proven that you can get very far in top sport even with bad eyesight. The 30-year-old judoka caused a sensation more than two and a half years ago by being crowned world champion on sacred ground in Tokyo, while he saw his opponents only blurry and could not read the standings on the scoreboard at all. Since he underwent laser eye surgery a few months ago, his (top sport) life has become a lot more pleasant. “I can even see my father sitting in the stands now.”
