Judges remove independent arbitrator Trump: justice may examine documents | Abroad

American media write that the decision is a major setback for Trump. Two of the three judges of the relevant court of appeals in Atlanta (Georgia), according to The New York Times appointed by Trump himself. It is not clear whether the former president will appeal against their decision.

The legal battle that has erupted since the Florida search in early August, in which the FBI found more than 11,000 government documents, has largely revolved around the arbitrator. He was given the power to keep documents found from the government because of, for example, the so-called privilege of the executive (‘executive privilege’, ed.). Conservative judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by him shortly before Trump stepped down, had granted the former president’s request for independent arbitration.

The criminal investigation into Trump includes whether confidential papers were withheld and whether attempts were made to thwart a federal investigation.
