Judge annuls private route control fine: can anyone now challenge such a fine?

The Vilvoorde police court has annulled a GAS fine of 53 euros that the municipality of Meise imposed on mobility professor Johan De Mol (UGent) from Lebbeke in 2024. The judge ruled that the municipality could not demonstrate that the speeding violation had been correctly determined by an authorized person, and raised questions about the way in which section control and automatic devices are financed. According to lawyers, this could have consequences for section checks throughout Flanders.
