The race in Valencia was won by Spaniard Izan Guevara. The Dutchman Zonta van den Goorbergh finished sixteenth. Moreira did not relinquish his leading position in the World Cup standings. The 21-year-old driver is the first Brazilian world champion in motorsport. He will switch to MotoGP in 2026.

Anouk Koevermans gives the Netherlands the lead against India

12.24: Anouk Koevermans won the first match in the group match with India in two sets against Shrivalli Bhamidipaty: 6-2 6-4. This means that the Dutch tennis players have a 1-0 lead against the host country in the Billie Jean King Cup. The Dutch team, which lost the first group match 2-1 to Slovenia, has already been eliminated.

Captain Elise Tamaëla’s team had hoped to qualify for the qualifications of the Billie Jean King Cup, just like last year. So that didn’t work. Slovenia continues as group winner. The Dutch team is relegated from the World Group, just like India. Later on Sunday, the Netherlands and India will play a singles and a doubles match against each other.

FIFA tightens measures against offensive online messages

11.25 am: World football association FIFA has tightened measures against offensive online messages against players and officials. FIFA announced this on Sunday, on the International Day for Tolerance. The association also emphasized that hatred and discrimination have no place in football.

“On the International Day for Tolerance, I want to make it clear that football must be a safe and inclusive environment, on the pitch, in the stands and online,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a press release.

“Through the FIFA Social Media Protection Service (SMPS) and by deploying advanced technology and human expertise, FIFA is taking decisive action to protect players, coaches, teams and match officials from the serious harm caused by offensive online posts,” Infantino said.

FIFA writes that since the launch of the SMPS in 2022, more than 65,000 offensive messages have been reported to social media platforms, which have subsequently been reviewed and removed. Since the beginning of this year, the SMPS has received more than 30,000 messages.

Brand supreme in Merksplas cyclo-cross

2:52 PM: Lucinda Brand has already achieved her sixth victory of this cyclo-cross season in the Strawberry Cross of Merksplas, Belgium. The Dordtse from Baloise Glowi Lions left the competition behind halfway through the cross and soloed to the win.

It was Leonie Bentveld and European champion Inge van der Heijden who kept Brand company for the longest time in the cross from the Superprestige. That duo saw Aniek van Alphen pass two laps before the end and move into second place. Van der Heijden came third.

Brand has always achieved a podium position in the last 49 cyclo-cross races where she has started. So far this season she has never finished outside the top 2. At the European Championships last week she had to leave the title to Van der Heijden.

Shiffrin kept the Albanian Lara Colturi and the German Emma Aicher well behind him and won the slalom from Levi for the fourth time in a row. Last month she started the Olympic year with fourth place in the giant slalom in Sölden, Austria.

Shiffrin is a two-time Olympian and six-time world champion.

Spaniard Jorge Martín returns in the last race of the season after injuring himself in a fall in the Japanese Grand Prix at the end of September. His compatriot Marc Máquez, who has been assured of the MotoGP world title since the end of September, has not been in action for a month and a half due to an injury.
