Joyce Hübner (35) from Berlin wants to run 120 marathons in 140 days along the German border. 5200 kilometers, eight to ten hours a day.
She started in Frankfurt (Oder) on May 2nd. Now she is already in Bavaria and has completed number 21. And every day, the first steps are a huge challenge!
“I get up, stretch and stretch, my legs are heavy and I almost automatically eat breakfast and get ready,” says the amateur extreme runner.
Radiant, you can see them walking through the landscapes with ease. “I have a stubborn head and a goal and I want to prove that it works. That drives me, and after three to four kilometers I’m fit again and feel good,” says Joyce.
“Before that, I went to the fitness center and thought that running was just a lot less complicated next to the job. You get dressed and off you go. In the beginning it was three to four kilometers at a time, two to three times a week,” she says.
“But I quickly realized that I only do it regularly when I have a goal in mind. I signed up for the half marathon and from then on I had no excuses.”
Joyce doesn’t run fast, doesn’t do the tour as a race against time. “Actually, novice runners should come to the track to see how slow I am,” she says. It also works when things go uphill too steeply.
Her top tips for beginner runners: jog gently for short distances. A mix of walking and running. Keep improving and keep at it! Regular training is important to stay at the training level and to be able to increase it.
