Jovanotti in slow recovery: “I have a shorter leg”

Last July he had a bicycle accident while he was in Santo Domingo with his wife Francesca. On one of his beloved bike rides, singer he fell after colliding with a traffic island and broke his collarbone and femur. As she immediately said on social media, it was a bad fall. And, due to some precautions, Jovanotti had to stay in Santo Domingo for some time: “After such a major operation there are risks of thrombosis, so to get back on the plane you need some time to re-establish blood circulation without risks,” he explained on social media.

During his stay in Santo Domingo, Jovanotti – in a wheelchair – he had been joined by his friend Mara Venier, who was there on holiday. Even on that occasion Jova wore an optimistic smiledespite the pain and worry about the commitments already made.

Jovanotti: slow convalescence with another 4/5 months on crutches

Once he managed to return to Italy, in August, Lorenzo Cherubini immediately went to the physiotherapy center in Forlì (where, among other things, he also casually met his friend Gianni Morandi). But now, a few weeks after the accident, Jovanotti wanted to explain clearly what happened. He made him a guest on the program It is not a country for young people on Radio 2.

«I really had a terrible fall. I hurt myself very badly. The foot was backwards. My femur exploded. It’s going to take some time to get back on my feet. They told me they will take it another 4/5 months on crutches», he began.

And immediately afterwards he explained that the operation did not go as hoped. «Unfortunately, however, they didn’t do the operation very well. They forgot to realign the femur and so now I have one leg shorter than the other».

This moment is undoubtedly difficult for the singer-songwriter who, however, does not want to give up. «It could have been worse and then I am someone who tends to minimize and read the opportunities that are offered to me. Now I will have to stop and do physiotherapy. A big break. I have to keep my muscles toned,” she said on Radio 2.

And he joked. «I’m not the last one to have one leg shorter than the other. And so they come to me from memory Garrincha and Pantani, so at least I’m in good company.” Both the right winger who won the 1958 and 1962 World Cups with Brazil and the beloved Italian cyclist they had a difference between one leg and the other. The first of six centimetres, due to a spinal deformity that he had had to live with since birth. The second of seven millimeters.

Lorenzo Jovanotti’s optimism is reduced when the singer-songwriter he reflects on the concerts he has already announced for next year. Last July 1st, in fact, the singer-songwriter had announced a tour in Italian sports halls, scheduled for the months of February, March, April and May 2024. He had written: «We haven’t played together under the roof of a stadium since 2018, it will be nice to meet again with a new show that I would like to be a big hug and a party every evening».

Now, however, there is a great unknown about those concerts. «I think we won’t be able to make it for the dates announced. I’m waiting for the x-ray at the beginning of October and then we’ll see. Meanwhile, these days I play sitting down, a bit like my friend Ben Harper does, even if I don’t like the idea of ​​doing it live. Music for me is movement.”
