Journalist refutes statements by Frankfurt player Martin Hinteregger

The “Hinti Cup” continues to cause a stir. Hinteregger did not clearly distance himself from the FPÖ politician involved. Rather, he made controversial statements that a journalist now examined more closely.

The freelance journalist and blogger Michael Bonvanot uncovered the business relationship between Eintracht professional Martin Hinteregger and the Austrian FPÖ politician Heinrich Sickl, who is said to have right-wing extremist connections.

Hinteregger officially ended the business relationship with Sickl after the revelation, but he does not want to have recognized a mistake on his part. He also avoided clearly distancing himself from Sickl. Rather, Hinteregger raised further questions with contradictory statements.

Bonvalot has now dealt with these and refuted them in his blog “Point of View”, “based on the available facts”, as he writes.

First and foremost is the organization of the “Hinti Cup”, a youth and leisure tournament in Hinteregger’s home town of Sirnitz, in which Sickl was also involved until the research was published.

Tournament framework program has been changed

In a Sky interview, Hinteregger explained: “The Hinti Cup is exactly as it was planned”.

Bonvalot now claims that something has changed. A concert and the award ceremony were originally planned at Albeck Castle, which belongs to the Sickl family. These events were removed from the schedule after the releases. In addition, Bonvalot posted a screenshot of the tournament schedule on the Hinti Cup website before his disclosure article and one after it with the program items removed.
