“We are devastated to announce that our wonderful husband and father, Mike, collapsed and died during the Aus Open in Melbourne,” it said. “For 38 years he lived his dream, covering sport around the world. He was a great man and we will miss him terribly.” The message was signed by the names Lucy, Sam, Ruby and Joe, Dickson’s family.

Tennis stars mourn: “Terrible news”

The news of Dickson’s death shocked the stars of the scene. Boris Becker wrote on X: “Terrible news from Melbourne. My condolences to the family of Mike Dickson, who died this morning. Rest in peace, Mike.”
