The British retail group Joules Group Plc is about to change management. On Monday, the lifestyle company, which sells clothing and garden furniture among other things, announced the appointment of Jonathon Brown as its new CEO. The 51-year-old will join the company on September 7 and, after a brief transition period, will take over the executive chair on September 30, the retailer said. As CEO, Brown succeeds Nick Jones, who announced his retirement in May.

The CEO-elect is a “proven leader” and has “a strong track record of driving performance and executing strategic transformation programs across multiple e-commerce and retail companies,” Joules said. In the course of his career, Brown worked, among other things, as online director at the retail group John Lewis from 2009 to 2012 and then from 2012 to 2015 as CEO of the British online fashion retailer MandM Direct.

Chairman Ian Filby justified the personnel decision: “The Board of Directors agreed that Jonathan was the outstanding choice for our new CEO among some very high-calibre candidates,” he said in a statement. In addition to his valuable experience, Brown has “the vision and ambition to lead Joules through the next stages of development,” Filby said.
