Teves, 27, who operates as a defender, has signed a one-year contract with the club. The Canadian moves to Jyväskylä from the AHL club Rochester Americans.
– Josh is a very mobile defender who has the ability to play on the puck. However, he is not only an attacking defender, but plays a strong five-on-five game, so we expect him to be a useful player for our team, JYP Sports Director Mikko Viitanen says in the club’s press release.
JYP reported last week that the Swedish defender by Jesper Lindgren the contract has been terminated. This influenced the acquisition of Teves.
– We have been constantly thinking about how to strengthen the team and the focus has now been on the defensive end. Jesper’s departure sped up the process, and when Teves’ name came up, we moved quickly to make a deal. We saw him as a suitable player for us also off the court.
Teves has played one NHL game in his career for the Vancouver Canucks. He has mostly played in the AHL in his career, where he has accumulated a total of 124 regular season games. In these, he has scored 7+20 power points.
Last season, he scored 6+15=21 points in 72 regular season games in the Americans shirt.
