The Basque coach Joseba Etxebarría has committed to CD Mirandés as the new coach of the rojillo team, as confirmed by the entity, taking the place of the dismissed Lolo Escobar.
“El Potro de Elgoibar” had a long career as a player after training in the Real Sociedad quarry, he moved to the discipline of Athletic Club with whom he played 499 official matches in all national and international competitions, in addition to being international with Spain on 53 occasions playing two European Championships and a World Cup.
His career on the bench began in the Lezama academy until he accompanied Ernesto Valverde as an assistant in the first team in the 2016-17 season.
After directing the linked team CD Baskonia, he was in charge of the technical direction of SD Amorebieta, which opened the door for him to the silver category in the 2017-18 campaign directing CD Tenerife, to which he arrived at the start of the season achieving 22 of 27 points and ensuring permanence.
The following campaign, after five games played, he was dismissed to later take over the management of Bilbao B with which he would dispute a promotion phase to LaLiga SmartBank, a bench he left last season.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, work will begin with the Mirandés squad and on Sunday he will make his debut at the ground of the second-placed team, Almería.
