The act to remember Joseph Louis Heads It had a difference compared to all the previous ones. It is that today was the first anniversary in which a granddaughter of the photographer could have been. River Heads, Agustina’s daughter, was born in November, but she never got to meet her grandfather. 25 years ago the journalist from NOTICIAS was murdered, and that is why they remembered him at the entrance to Pinamar. At the event were his sister, Gladys, his close friend and season partner, gabriel michi – who read a letter from the widow, Cristina-, and the local mayor, Martin Yeza, among others. They all asked for justice and that no one forget about Cabezas.
On January 25 like today, they kidnapped in Pinamar a Heads, after Oscar Andreani’s party. The perpetrators of this cowardly act were a criminal gang made up of ordinary thieves from Los Hornos, who had the help of members of the local police. The person in charge of the logistics was Gregorio Ríos, head of the custody of the obscure businessman Alfredo Yabrán, the man who orchestrated the brutal murder. A quarter of a century passed from that tragic summer of 1997, and that is why his family and friends remembered him. “25 years have passed since an unpunished crime: none of the murderers is in jail, although I know that society continues to remember Cabezas even though the crime remains unpunished,” said Gladys, to a shower of applause.
The one who also spoke was Michi, a companion of Cabezas in the seasons and his friend. The journalist read a letter that he sent Christina Robledo, the photographer’s widow. “There were no arms or words to help me understand what was happening. Why Jose Luis? Why our children? Why their parents? Why his sister? Why me? The pain remains in me, and I always find her clear and transparent gaze in the gaze of our daughter”, said Cristina, who now lives in Spain, through the voice of Michi. Yeza also spoke, and, once again, she apologized again on behalf of the municipality that she commands today, which at the time, in that tragic 1997, acted as Yabrán’s accomplice.
Today marks 25 years, a quarter of a century since a mafia gang, protected by the highest political power, assassinated José Luis Cabezas. But no one forgets him.
