59-year-old Jort Kelder waged a legal battle against Google last year due to a number of scam advertisements. A reporter from Shownieuws was shocked when the Op1 star revealed that she had already spent 70,000 euros on lawyers. “Yes, you have to work hard for that, but I don’t, right? A difference,” he said at the time.

Very embarrassing

The men of VI were quite angry with Jort at the time, because they considered such a reaction to be ostentatious behavior. And now, almost a year later, the presenter admits that this was indeed an inappropriate comment.

Jort tells in the section In The Walkways: “It was very embarrassing. Yes, it was really bad. I was drunk. I think I had six negronis. I have to admit that honestly. I was a little overconfident. I came from a dinner party that had gotten completely out of hand. A long, wet lunch and I was just plain annoying.”

Clap for head

It was also cringeworthy for Jort to see that interview with himself again, he admits. “I should have just been punched. It was a bit rowdy. I shouldn’t have done that. Stupid.”

Jort continues to believe that people with a low income should have fewer rights than someone like him. For example, he wants to take away the voting rights of people who pay less than five thousand euros in taxes per year. “I don’t think people who don’t contribute to the treasury should have much say in the matter.”

Nineteenth century

That is a daring position, Jort acknowledges, but, he defends: “That was the case in the nineteenth century. It will never happen again, but I do think there are advantages to it.”

He concludes: “It may also be 10 thousand or 2 thousand, but there is a limit somewhere. If you don’t contribute money, why should you be allowed to participate in deciding what someone else’s money is spent on? I think there is something in that.”
