Jordi Cruijff would have been asked to take over the role of the resigned director of football affairs Marc Overmars at Ajax. The son of the legendary number fourteen would not have said no beforehand.
Sources report that The Telegraph† Cruijff is currently a technical advisor at FC Barcelona.
According to the newspaper, it is no surprise that the Amsterdam club ends up with the son of Johan Cruijff. The current successes and good financial position of Ajax are the indirect result of the Velvet Revolution initiated by his father.
Overmars had to leave the field because of transgressive behaviour. He turned out to have sent dick pics to female employees, among other things. Since then, Ajax has been diligently looking for a new director who can continue Cruijff’s legacy.
