Joop Gall will become a trainer of VV Jubbega from next season. The ambitious Frisians play in the first class of amateur football.
Gall has been back in the Netherlands for a while after foreign adventures in China and Indonesia, among others. The name of the 59-year-old coach, who in the past held sway at BV Veendam, FC Emmen and Go Ahead Eagles, was recently circulating when FC Groningen ran into relegation problems.
According to many followers of the club, the former player of the northern football pride, together with veterans such as Jan van Dijk and Martin Drent, would be the ideal man to get FC Groningen out of the doldrums, but the club management did not want to do that.
Recently, Gall was a spectator at the Gomos-Jubbega match when he came into conversation with an important sponsor of the amateur club. He asked the trainer and got his word. Gall starts with the Frisians on August 1.
