Joonas Suotamo will be seen in Lucasfilm’s new series.
Lucasfilm’s new fantasy series Willow stars Finnish Joonas Suotamo.
Suotamo is also remembered for his role as Chewbacca Star Wars – in the later parts of the film series.
Solo: A Star Wars Story -film and produced the Willow series Jon Kasdan offered the role directly to Suotamo.
– Jon sent me a message and told me that he would have a role if I was interested, Suotamo told Lucasfilm.com in an interview.
– It turned out to be a wonderful experience.

Suotamo’s character is a peculiar Scourge, whose gray skin is covered in slime. Scourge has a spiky cage on his head.
– I was followed by a team with all kinds of pullers, gloves and its cage, Suotamo recounted on the website.
The masking of Suotamo took several hours every morning. The costume included, among other things, a muscle suit and silicone pieces that could be glued to the face.
According to Suotamo, the role of Scourge took some getting used to.
– I often practiced violent emotional outbursts in the dark with a suit on, Suotamo said.
Willow is a sequel by George Lucas for the 1988 fantasy adventure. Several years after rescuing the little Empress Elora Danan, Nelwyn wizard Willow Ufgood returns to lead a band of outcasts on a dangerous mission.
Other roles include, among others Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer.
Willow premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, November 30 with two episodes.
