THEHis is one of the best-known faces on British television. And all of the UK has now rallied around him, because Jonnie Irwin – hugely popular host of A Place in the Sun on Channel 4 – in an interview with Hello Magazine he announced that I have terminal stage cancer, which has spread from the lungs to the brain.
In the program – the former estate agent – searches for the perfect home for the needs and tastes of the competitors, in the UK and abroad. A success that has been going on since 23004. In the interview Irwin he explained that he noticed something was wrong in August 2020, when he was in Italy to shoot an episode of A Place in the Sun: suddenly, while he was driving, his vision became blurred. The medical examination taken soon after revealed a cancer. With a prognosis of six months to live.
“I had to go home and I had to tell my wife who looked after our children – with Jessica Holmes Jonnie has three children: Rex (age 3) and twins Rafa and Cormac (age 2) – that she would be alone. It was devastating. I was only able to apologize to her and felt terribly guilty».

“I don’t know how long I have left to live but I try to stay positive”
After the first diagnosis, Jonnie Irwin continued to work without saying anything to anyone. At a certain point, however, she felt the need to get rid of this weight. “I’ve been carrying this secret for too long – she revealed. I don’t know how long I have left to live, but I try to stay positive. I want to live thinking that I’m living with cancer and not that I’m dying from it ».
Another reason was to «Inspire people who are living with limited life prospects to make the most of every day. Help them understand that you can live positively, even if you are about to die».
“Some people in my condition have to-do lists. But I just want us to do as much as possible as a family».
And in fact, Jonnie’s goal now is to spend as much time as possible with his family. “Now I want to make plans. I want to make memories and capture these moments with my family because the truth is my boys will grow up not knowing who their father is. And that breaks my heart».
