Jonne Virtanen: a long career is coming to an end

Jonne Virtanen is very pleased with his ending puck.

– I ‘m fucking happy with my career. It can be put on the Guinness Book of Records as an all-time overrun.

This is how full it is Jonne Virtanen on the eve of the last match of his career.

Virtanen was anything but a June promise. He went through the TPS mill but didn’t want to find a role or get the right playing time.

– I am a guy who could not play in C, B or A – and who was fired from SaiPa, who was last in the League, Virtanen reminds.

– Still, players who are much better than me have made much more modest careers.

Virtanen believes that the foundation of a long professional career was cast in home education.

– My mother and father have created a real world of values. I haven’t grown up in a library, but I learned at home that even though shit things happen and mistakes happen, I don’t give up.

That’s where it started. Virtanen sued Sami Helenius in the 2007-08 season. Jani Hakala

Virtanen left Turku for Lappeenranta 16 years ago in pursuit of his professional dream. He dragged a leg of the league team locker into the doorway and twisted it open by fighting.

Virtanen challenged him at the age of 19 Sami Helenius, A fart marinated by the fists of NHL goons. The nose came, but the courage was noticed and rewarded during the game.

– Someone had hit me before, Virtanen says.

– I got my name out and for a few years developed my flawed gameplay.

The fight was preceded by a match on television with comments Mika Kortelainen the classic note “a touch of viciousness that would make a blade.”

– Evil wasn’t really a problem at the time, Virtanen smiles.

– I wanted to get a place to play by any means. If the koutsi had asked me to hit his hand across something, it wouldn’t have bothered me. If someone asked for that now, I’d see if you’re confused.

At RD’s school

Virtan became a league player, but SaiPa showed the door after two seasons for disciplinary reasons.

– I woke up when I got mono. I thought I wasn’t a devil, but luckily I got a new opportunity in Jyväskylä – and then I was busy, Virtanen said.

– RD (Risto Dufva) put the calendar so full that I had no choice but to be in the hall. When the D-Team (farm club) had a day off, I had to go to the hall in the morning to see if I was in the JYP lineup, even though I hadn’t played there for four months.

Mestis offered playing time that Virtanen had not gained too much at any point in his career.

– If I were to advise young people now, I would say there is no hurry for anything. On the other hand: I was in a terrible hurry to the League.

Virtanen gradually broke into the line-up of the rock-hard JYP.

– That’s when we went with unlimited self-confidence. The mistakes were the fault of the others, he recalls.

– In the 2012–13 season, I was able to play nightclubs for six months.

Overweight responsibility boy career record readings: 56 matches, 19 (7 + 12) points.

His career ends in Sport, naturally under Dufva.

– Someone wins, someone doesn’t – but luckily there hasn’t been a whore for success, he sums up.

– The medals are nice, but they are small compared to how many good friends I have made through hockey.

Virtanen has already done a kind of farewell tour, as Sport’s playoff dreams were buried a long time ago. League clubs and audiences have noted an exceptional career with respect to the final meters.

– It’s a real feeling, Virtanen says.

– Maybe authenticity is rare. That’s probably what people appreciate about me. I am a staple who gets mistakes.

“So what?”

When the buzzer finishes the Sport-Ilves match on Tuesday night, the career is over.

– Emotional bursts have still been avoided, Virtanen says.

– I’ve tried to plan everything for the future. It has taken away thoughts of quitting.

One part of the “future” is operating on the junior disc. More is guaranteed.

– The last few years have been a time of introspection. I have to say that I have been quite deep in the world of hockey, Virtanen says.

– I’m really relaxed, but I’ve been very real with the slut. That’s why I’ve been to countries for a while.

Virtanen sometimes remembers that he even experienced guilt because he was not at the sharpest point of his athletic gifts.

– I’ve always liked to play, but I’m not the most sporty person in the world. So what? he bursts.

– Today, I’m with myself fine – and I can promise that when my career ends, I won’t go to any spinning, ever.
