On Tuesday, April 5, a payday demonstration was held at the Senate Square in Helsinki. The protest demanded more pay and showed appreciation to municipal workers.

Singer Jonna Tervomaa, who performed at the event, shared her arousing experience on her Instagram account. He describes how he set out to drive the event in the weather, “where it would be best to stay home”. The singer says she was wondering what could be put on the gig even to keep from freezing, and on the other hand not to look like an unrecognized pile on stage.

– But the gig is a gig and you have to go. Of course. The driving situation was scary. Really. Snow is raining from every direction, from the road surface, from the sky and from the trees of the forests, with a gust of wind blowing suddenly and in large quantities at a time, Tervomaa says in his writing.

He describes the temperature variation that froze the road surface as a curling track.

– I haven’t experienced anything like that. On the way, I saw a full-size truck rumble into a ditch and lay there upside down like a wounded whale drifting ashore…. Absolutely horrible, Tervomaa says.

The singer says that when they arrived, they did a soundcheck as the storm raged over the stage structures and banners.

– Municipal professionals were not afraid of the storm. They arrived to speak to improve deficient and inadequate working and wage conditions. The conditions at Senate Square were just as outrageous and unreasonable as those of so many professionals.

– There was a gig. The audience encouraged. I have never experienced anything like this, Tervomaa says.
