Jonker with Orange women at the 2023 World Cup against world champion US

In the draw for the 2023 world championship, the Orange Women are linked to reigning world champions United States. In addition, the team of national coach Andries Jonker came out with Vietnam debutant and the winner of qualifying group A as opponents in group E.

In that qualifying group A, Portugal, Cameroon and Thailand still compete for a ticket to the World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand.

National coach Andries Jonker saw the draw with mixed feelings. “Actually, I am not satisfied with this draw, because America is of course an absolute top opponent. The great candidate to go for the world title,” Jonker told NOS . “That does not mean that we have no chance. I think that we are a formidable opponent for everyone. So also for the United States. If I am honest, I think the United States is not happy that it is playing against us.”

The World Cup will take place next summer from July 20 to August 20, 2023. Australia has six host cities and New Zealand four.
