Jong AZ has again achieved a good result in the first division against a team from the left row. The team of coach Jan Sierksma quickly turned around a deficit against Helmond Sport. Thanks to goals from Finn Stam and Jurre van Aken, the Alkmaarders won 2-1.
Young AZ had their backs against the wall from the first minute. Hakon Lorentzen quickly gave Helmond Sport the lead at a soaking wet Sports Park De Kalverhoek. Jan Sierksma’s team seemed to be facing a difficult match, but after six minutes the equalizer was already on the scoreboard. Left back Finn Stam shot the 1-1 hard into the short corner from a distance.
Although the players from Brabant started the match better, Jong AZ’s promises improved after the equalizer. Kees Smit was dangerous twice with a free kick. In the pouring rain, the spectators saw an attractive match that went both ways. Ten minutes before half-time, Jayden Addai seemed to score his twelfth of the season, but his shot went narrowly wide of the goal. Just before half time, Jong AZ was able to express the good play into a lead. Jurre van Aken put the 2-1 on the scoreboard after a nice attack by the home team.

Once again there were chances on both sides, but the most striking moment was fifteen minutes after the break. Then Mohamed Mallahi received the red card for a striking movement and Helmond Sport had to continue with one man less. Yet Jong AZ had not yet gotten rid of the Brabant team, despite the manpower situation. In the final phase, substitute Ricueno Kewal and Mexx Meerdink had the opportunity to finally close the match, but they were not accurate enough in the finishing.
Young Ajax
Jong Ajax has also achieved a good result in the first division. The Amsterdam team took a point when they visited the Rat Verlegh Stadium. Jong Ajax took the lead in the first half through Mika Godts. After the break, Aimé Omgba still had to concede the equalizer: 1-1. With this result, Jong Ajax surpasses Telstar on goal difference and climbs to seventeenth place.
