Jong Ajax takes the lead against Jong PSV

A goal-rich clash between Jong Ajax and Jong PSV ended in 2-2. The Eindhoven team took a two-goal lead, but the Amsterdam team fought back into the match within two minutes. Dies Janse and Nassef Chourak scored for the Amsterdam team.

The start of Jong Ajax was still very hopeful. Daniel Kalokoh came in front of the goal and lobbed the ball beautifully over goalkeeper Joël Drommel. His effort ended up on the crossbar and his header went straight to the goalkeeper. Jong PSV was awarded a penalty moments later due to an unfortunate handball by Raphaël Sarfo. This was used by Isaac Babadi: 1-0. After the opening goal, chances were few and far between on both sides. The biggest one for Ajax came via Sarfo, but his effort ended up with Drommel.

After halftime, Jong Ajax did everything they could to score the equalizer. Jaydon Banel, who played against AEK Athens yesterday, shot straight at Drommel and Julian Brandes was not accurate on the rebound. Nassef Chourak then scored the 1-1. Gabriel Misehouy put him in position, but Chourak could not score.

Remontada

All missed opportunities were fatal for Young Ajax. Mohamed Nassoh outpaced Thom de Graaff from 25 meters and doubled the Eindhoven lead: 2-0. It seemed ready for Jong Ajax, but nothing could be further from the truth. Dies Janse shot the tying goal into the goal almost out of nowhere. The goal gave Ajax wings as Chourak brilliantly made it 2-2 and the comeback was complete within two minutes.

Ajax did not get further than the two quick goals, so the score ended 2-2. Young Ajax remains fifteenth in the first division. FC Eindhoven will be the last opponent in 2023 next Saturday. The kick-off is 9 p.m. in Eindhoven.

Kewal helps Jong AZ score a three-pointer against Cambuur

On paper, AZ’s talents had a difficult away match ahead of them against SC Cambuur. However, the visitors brutally took the lead within ten minutes through Ricuenio Kewal. He completed a splitting pass from Mexx Meerdink through the defense: 0-1. Cambuur came out of the shell after the quick goal and was given a gigantic opportunity through Fedde de Jong, who played in Alkmaar last year. The midfielder shot the ball full onto the crossbar.

Michael Breij was the next player in Frisian service who thought he could score. This time the save came from Tristan Kuijsten, the goalkeeper who made his professional debut on Monday. In between, Finn Stam’s header went wide of the home team’s goal.

Temporary strike

Cambuur leveled quickly in the second half. Milan Smit completed a cross from Remco Balk: 1-1. Because objects were thrown onto the field in the 54th minute, the game was temporarily halted. After a strike of twenty minutes (!) the match could continue.

Out of nowhere, AZ’s promises still scored the winning goal in the final phase. Kees Smit sent Meerdink deep and he found Kewal. The previous goalscorer didn’t think twice and scored his second of the evening. Despite a number of chances from Cambuur, the score remained 1-2.

Jong AZ is eleventh in the first division due to the victory. ADO Den Haag is the last opponent of 2023 on Saturday, December 23, at its own sports park Kalverhoek in Wijdewormer.
