Jong ACV raises awareness among young people about accidents at work

1 in 100 students has an industrial accident. That is twice as much as the average employee. In 2020, there were 2,353 students in West Flanders who suffered an accident at work. This puts us in second place after the – much larger – province of Antwerp, which leads the way with 2,818 accidents. Tom Lingier: “Most accidents happen with day contracts where the employer has not taken the time to explain safety regulations or to provide work clothing such as safety shoes. Many accidents also happen to and from work.”

Many students don’t know what to do if something goes wrong. ACV’s ISA information line can help with this. “With our action today, we provide job students with information about the legislation and point them to our free information line ISA.”
